Hummingbird of Infinity

I had a unique experience today when a hummingbird appeared out of nowhere in the tree outside my window.  I didn’t know that hummingbirds could be around at this time of year, but it is possible! Hummingbirds have a lot of meaning for me since their wings move in a pattern that creates a figure eight, which is the infinity symbol which I wear daily.  The hummingbird is such an amazing small bird of nature and it inspires me to write poetry.

Hummingbird of Infinity

Small, yet powerful, constantly in motion;

 fluttering quickly, creating quite a commotion.

Iridescent colors run through its wings;

shining colors bright as those the rainbow brings.

Fluttering to each remaining bud of fall;

collecting sweet nectar from one and all.

The symbol of infinity it creates as it flies;

Wasting no time, on itself only it relies.

Choosing to spend life free from care,

Spinning like a pinwheel through the cool, crisp air!

Nature’s Cry

Trees release leaves, the fall wind blows,

Falling leaves mirroring the teardrops falling from my eyes.

Clinging safely to lashes wet with dewy droplets a single tear tethers,

Like the remaining leaf clinging to the familiarity of a tree branch.

Afraid to fall, afraid to let go, afraid of the unknown.

Another month passes in my life,

Barely I notice the changing days on the calendar.

Struggling for an answer that I can’t find,

To a question repeated incessantly in my head.

I want to scream, to make this all stop,

The pain, the tears, the heartache.

Instead I find solace in the cool fall breeze,

Watching the falling leaves that are Earth’s tears.

Kasey’s Poem or Ode to a Cat

Purrs of contentment are emitted by you,

You lay curled on my bed all the day through.

Movement comes only from the flick of your tail,

Methodically it thumps without fail.

Legs stretched out each and every way,

Eyes squeezed shut, keeping out the light of day.

Ears alert for the slightest sound,

Head jerking up, peering all around.

Rising, arching your back fully when you do,

Leaping glacefully to the windowsill, inspecting the view.

Green eyes alert to movements outside,

Holding court in the window, eluding a sense of pride.

Continually watching from your windowsill throne,

Colors looking regal, as you perch alone.

Curiosity fulfilled, you alight to the floor,

Curling into a ball on my bed once more!

Fall Ponderings 1

I love the season of fall! Leaves changing, a cool breeze in the air, and familiar traditions associated only with these time of year occur.  I thought I would go with a fall poem today about apples.  Fall is the perfect time for apple picking, so why not a poem celebrating these symbols of fall?

Apple of My Eye

Fall has arrived, a cool breeze chills the air,

Time to pick apples, before the trees become bare.

The apples are ripe with a waxy shine,

The orchard smells sweet, its scent devine!

Apples hang tempting from each and every tree,

A picture perfect portrait that beckons to me.

Varying in shades of red, yellow, and green,

They form a palette of colors, beautiful to be seen.

I choose an apple, bright red in its hue,

Savoring the taste, as the juices flow through.

This fruit exemplifies the grandeur of fall,

A delightful experience enjoyed by all!

Whether covered with caramel or used for a pie,

The apples of fall are the apple of my eye!

Today’s theme is happiness! 🙂  I enjoy the feeling I get from being happy.  It’s a natural high that releases endorphins into your blood making you feel good!  With that in mind, I decided to create an acrostic poem about happiness!  Embedded in the acrostic are special things that cause me to feel happiness.  What makes you feel happy, to feel so good you want to smile at even the grumpiest of people? Happiness Is…

Holding the hand of the person you love, as you walk through life together.

Appreciating a close friend, loving them for enriching your life!

Pursuing your dreams making them a reality!

Pictures to reminisce over, tiny, frozen, treasures of time.

Indulging your imagination, letting your mind roam free!

Necessary moments of solitude to daydream, reflect, or just “be”!

Encounters that forever change your life!

Seeing something special in yourself, and cultivating it into something magnificent!

Smiles, laughter, and a positive outlook on life!

These are my happy thoughts. The things that get me through life, should life get tough.  Happiness is a gift we should share with the world!  Happy people are positive people!  Where can you find your happiness?  Until next time stay happy my friends! 🙂

 

Rainbows All Around

To follow up with my rainbow theme today I would like to share a poem inspired by the miniature rainbow found in my room this morning.

Rainbows All Around

Glistening colors reflecting the light abound,

I look to the sky, yet a rainbow isn’t found.

The beautiful colors do not fill the sky,

I am perplexed, I saw colors pass by!

I look to the ground and upon it I see,

A miniature rainbow shining back at me!

A smile of joy appears on my face,

This tiny rainbow found a hiding place!

Beneath my bed it shimmers with joy,

Happy to be found, acting very coy.

The colors are clear, running from one to the next,

Where did it come from? This rainbow has me vexed.

I sit there appreciating this tiny gift from above,

It’s presence at my bedside, a reminder of passed ones I love.

Do they watch over me as soundly I sleep?

This thought alone is enough to make one weep.

But how can I be sad, when this tiny rainbow is near?

With colors so bright, it erases the thought of tears.

The appearance of seven colored beams of light,

Is unexpected in my room, yet its presence seems right.

The rainbow can’t be questioned, its content just to be,

Yet it offers people hope, and a sense of tranquillity!
